This beautiful prayer bowl, or ‘jicara’, is created using the bottom of a gourd which forms a bowl. An olive green and gold peyote is created with a star that has ‘swirls’. Any form with six segments is still a peyote symbol, even though it is not round. Gold plated beads are used as accents around the edge. This bowl will amaze!
Prayer bowls have traditionally been used in Huichol ceremonies and hold offerings such as corn or deer hair. Here they hold the artist’s visions in beads. The peyote, called ‘jicuri’, is used in ceremonies as sacred medicine, allowing connection with the spirit world, deities and ancestors. Seen in real life, this wonderful bowl is imbued with the Huichol connection to the spirit world and will not disappoint!
The bowl is 2 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch deep. It can be displayed on a stand.
Do not place this art in hot direct sunlight. This may soften the beeswax. Otherwise, with gently handling, this art will stay in perfect shape.
