Description
The turtle is a very traditional animal for the Huichol. The turtle assists the rain goddess and protects the purity of all water. It is also responsible for the replenishing of underground springs.
Click on the pictures to expand them and see the detail! This turtle has lines of iridescent black and blue with silver plated beads. It is 3″ wide, 3.25″ long and an inch deep. Even the wooden carving itself is a work of art. Seen in real life this turtle is imbued with the Huichol connection to the spirit world.
