Description
The turtle is a very traditional animal for the Huichol Indians. The turtle assists the rain goddess and protects the purity of all water. It is also responsible for the replenishing of underground springs.
This turtle displays a red Ojo de Dios (Eye of God) symbol. The God’s Eye represents the watchful protection of God and it points to the four cardinal directions. It is 2.5″ wide, 3″ long and an inch deep. Even the wooden carving itself is a work of art. Gold plated beads accent this piece. Seen in real life this turtle is imbued with the Huichol connection to the spirit world.
