Description
The turtle is a very traditional animal for the Huichol. The turtle assists the rain goddess and protects the purity of all water. It is also responsible for the replenishing of underground springs.
The ceremonial arrow on the turtle’s back allows the gods to give their blessings. Seen in real life this turtle is imbued with the Huichol connection to the spirit world.
